APC Chairman says they are Still sad over Ekweremadu's emergence as deputy Senate president-

APC Chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun, says his party is still bitter that a PDP member, Ike Ekweremadu emerged as the deputy senate President. Speaking in an interview with Channels TV yesterday July 17th, Odigie-Oyegun said
"If there is something that happens contrary to our interest, of course we will be bitter. I am bitter. The party is bitter. We won a hard fought election We are putting together the best contingent we have to tackle the problems of this nation and then you are confronted with a sore top in the middle of an APC leadership. Its not right. It's just not right"he said
On the alleged plot to impeach President Buhari, Oyegun says
"It is not feasible, it is not possible. It is absolutely nonsensical. We have too many challenges for someone to think he would come up with that kind of thing and think he will get away with it"he said

Dino Melaye Continues his attack on Remi Tinubu, gives instances of her quarrel with other people

In the wake of his highly publicized verbal fight with Senator Remi Tinubu in the National Assembly, Dino Melaye shared this think piece, recalling alleged instances where Sen. Remi had confrontations with Senators and others. Read what he wrote after the cut..

WHY ALWAYS REMI TINUBU? : For the record, I want to give a few instances to buttress my perception of Senator Oluremi.
1. Just after she was first elected into the senate, one of the commissioners, who went to pay homage and congratulate her "mistakenly" referred to her as "distinguished senator". She took everyone aback when she flared up and warned never to be addressed like that again, asking the commissioner: "What happened to Yeye? Do you know how many senators we have made? You probably should have called me by name. The man apologised and quietly left.
2. She held a town hall meeting in Yaba, sometime ago during her first term and when it was the question and answer session, Seun Okinbaloye of Channels asked a question, alluding to the fact that "we have heard of a few things about you and your husband and some of the things you have been doing in Lagos". Senator Oluremi wouldn't let him land, when she interrupted him and asked: "Who are you and where are you from? You heard a few things about us? We are Lagos". Everyone was stunned and I was there.
Another lady from LTV 8 (can't figure her name off the top of my head now) also stood up and asked her own question, starting with "distinguished senator". She immediately pounced on her: "Imagine, she just called me senator when she was meant to call me mummy". She also gave me mine. She mistook me for someone else from THISDAY and was going to attack me before someone else came to my rescue. However, I saved the day by going to the MC, Mr. Kehinde Bamigbetan (who was then Ejigbo LG chairman) to go and appeal to the journalists to take out the vexatious aspects of the interraction gone bad before the whole essence of the meeting is lost to her mannerism.
3. I know a former member of the National Assembly, who had to go to one of today's cabinet members to report her, that the next time she was rude to him, he would damn the consequences and take her to the cleaners. I also know that Mark as former SP avoided her like a plague. Did anyone see how she charged at Senator Obanikoro when she objected to his nomination as minister? Instances abound and these are unbecoming incidences that should not be found in anyone's character file. But that's who she is. It will take a "real man" to brush aside such invectives and pretend an encounter ever took place with her. That's where Dino missed it. But Remi can be such a menace.
Please note, I am not one given to cheap talks and these instances, I can verify to this platform. Thanks all.
Remi embarrassed her SP and the DSP
The same woman almost slapped Senator Rafiu Ibrahim and nobody demanded an apology /response from her or the entire Senate. Why now?
The same woman deliberately sat on the DSP's seat to cause uproar yet, nobody demanded an apology from her. Why now?
Am just wondering why Tinubu supporters are now demanding a word from Senate after the same woman engaged Dino
Why always Remi Tinubu? Fatima Binta, Oduah & other mothers are yet to fight a man in the senate
Remi Tinubu Calling someone's husband a thug/dog, I mean you can't be of misconduct and hoping to become a role model for the next set of Generation
Hajiya Gambo, Sarah Jubril fought for women race without wrestling today, they are worthy to be looked up to
I repeat Fumilayo Kuti, Hajiya Gambo, Sarah Jubril fought for woman race without attacking any man - they are worthy to be looked up to.

Selena Gomez Fires back for Taylor Swift on a twitter User who called her out

After Kim Kardashian revealed via Snapchat that Taylor Swift was aware of the lyrics of Kanye's Famous song but still went ahead to deny it, and Taylor Swift responded saying she was not aware of some improper words in it, Selema Gomez came out to defend Taylor, saying that people should use their influential voice for things that matter.

A Twitter user clapped back at her, reminding her that Taylor Swift and herself didn't even bother to speak out for BlackLivesMatter or Police brutality. This struck a nerve in Selena and she responded.

My encounter with Niger Delta Avengers- Sports Minister Dalung

Minister of Youths and Sports, Solomon Dalung, over the weekend via his twitter handle, announced that he held talks with members of the militant group, Niger Delta Avengers. Speaking to a selected group of journalists at the end of a stakeholder’s meeting of the Southern senatorial zone of Plateau State on Saturday July 16th, Dalung said he took a two-hour journey on the sea to Oporoza in Gbaramatu kingdom in Delta state last Wednesday July 13th where he met with the leadership of the NDA who gave him a sealed hand-written letter to deliver to President Muhammadu Buhari.

“On reaching the community after the two-hour journey on the high sea, I met with the members of the communities who told me that their dream was to be included in the Nigerian project, that the education facilities and other basic social amenities are almost non-existent in the communities. They also raised concern of incessant attacks by the Nigerian Military. As a youth minister, I know the Avengers are mostly youths who have potentials to be great citizens of this country.” Dalung stated that after meeting with the communities, he was escorted by the Niger Delta ambassadors to the leadership of Avengers who gave him a hand-written letter specifying their demands which he said he was yet to present to the President. According to him, members of the militant group raised three important issues “The issues include the Niger-Delta Maritime University, pipeline community policing which they said the government had denied them, and the inability of the government to continue with the amnesty programme established by former President Umaru Musa Yarádua Yar’Adua. After going round some of the communities, I noticed that government projects were almost non-existent. I saw a secondary school signboard somewhere but the school is yet to be developed, the community has a clinic but still at the foundation level and a borehole that is not functional.”he said

Hidden Fact About Dbanj's Secret Wedding Revealed

D'banj
Contrary to reports that award winning Nigerian music artists, D’banj staged a secret wedding at his father’s house in Lagos; sources close to the music star has come out to disclose that it was not the main wedding but a family introduction. He also added that no registry wedding was held. Share on Facebook Share on Twitter D’banj According to Sunday Scoop, authoritatively revealed that contrary to what is being reported in the entertainment circles, D’banj did not have a court wedding.  What took place was a formal introduction ceremony as it is customary between a groom’s family and that of his bride-to-be. The source further revealed that, Dbanj pleaded with his bride’s parents for the introduction to be hosted at his father’s house in Lagos because he did not want it to be an all-comers affair. Luckily, they were in support of his suggestion and the introduction was witnessed by only close family members of the couple. According to his camp, he did not get married at Onigbongbo Registry, Ikeja; neither did the couple have a traditional introduction in Jos, Plateau state, as earlier reported. The person said: “D’banj has given so much information about himself to the public and he deserves to keep some things private and this is one of those things. He is not worried about losing female fans; he just wants his marriage and the impending white wedding off public radar.” We wish him well in his marital decisions!

SWAN President: FIFA President’s proposed visit good for Nigerian football

Ilorin – The President, Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Honour Sirawoo, says the expected visit of FIFA’s President, Gianni Infantino to Nigeria will open a new vista for the nation’s football. Sirawoo made the assertion in a statement by the association’s Secretary-General, Olawale Alabi, on Sunday in Ilorin. The statement said the visit underscored the regard Nigeria enjoyed in the politics of international football as a result of the untiring efforts of the Amaju Pinnick-led Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). It said the visit would also serve as a veritable platform for stakeholders to share ideas on the advancement of Nigeria’s potential in the game. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Infantino and FIFA’s Secretary-General, Fatma Samoura, will visit Nigeria on July 24 on a two-day working visit. “It is no mean feat to have the FIFA president visiting Nigeria with other world football officials. I congratulate the NFF on this. “It’s a great job which must be fully utilised toward the uplifting football standard in Nigeria, especially now that the country’s rating is dwindling in FIFA ranking. “I urge all stakeholders and Nigerians in general to support the Amaju Pinnick-led NFF’s quest to move football forward. “Of course, the visit of the FIFA president will enhance the interest of corporate Nigeria in football development more than what it is in recent times. “This in turn will promote wealth creation in line with our agenda,’’ the statement said. It said the association would support NFF in repositioning Nigeria’s football for maximum benefits as applicable in most countries of the world. It added that the zonal Vice-Presidents of North Central, South-West and South-South had been directed to ensure full involvement of members in activities related to the visit. The statement also said that they had been directed to be involved in the burial of former national football coaches. “The remains of the late former Super Eagles captain and coach, Stephen Keshi will be buried next week, while the 40th day Fidau prayer for late former Super Eagles coach, Amodu Shaibu holds on July 20. “I have therefore directed our zonal vice-presidents to coordinate the activities of members in host state chapters such as Lagos, FCT, Delta and Edo,’’ it quoted Sirawoo as saying. The statement, which also commended FIFA for appointing an African, Fatma Samoura as Secretary-General, noted that her administrative acumen would be invaluable in reshaping the world football governing body. JAMB says Admission will be Approved After Varsities' s Screening

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has given condition for the 2016 admissions, saying it will only give approval “after appropriate screening of the candidates by the institutions.”
The Registrar/Chief Executive of JAMB, Prof. Dibu Ojerinde, said this in a statement on Sunday.
Ojerinde said, “The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board wishes to state that the latest list of candidates sent to all the tertiary institutions contains candidates who qualified for screening based on the individual institution’s capacity. It’s not in any way an admission list.
“The list, which is made up of candidates, who met the national cut-off point within the set criteria, is sent to the institutions. Again, for purposes of clarity, all institutions that have need for more can source from their omnibus printout as stated above. The candid intention of the board is to ensure that available spaces are adequately utilised.”“However, if this list is not sufficient for the need of any institution, such institution can source from the omnibus printout earlier sent to them by the board. The public and all tertiary institutions should note that admission will only be approved by the board after appropriate screening of the candidates by the institutions.
The Federal Government had, on Saturday, clarified its ban on Post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination and the general admission procedure.
It said it “does not in any way affect the statutory role of the Senate of any university or the academic board of any tertiary institution conducting its admissions.”
The Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, also made the clarification in a statement by the Deputy Director of Press and Public Relations in the Ministry of Education, Mr. Ben. Bem-Goong.
He said the clarification became necessary “following conflicting reports in the media over the roles of universities and JAMB in admission under the new dispensation.”
According to him, the role of JAMB is to conduct the UTME, compile the list of candidates whose scores meet the cut-off marks (180 and above) and send same to the universities.
The institutions, he emphasised, would shortlist the candidates, using the agreed guidelines and thereafter return the shortlisted candidates to JAMB for verification of compliance with the guidelines and issuance of JAMB admission letters.
“For the avoidance of doubt, any screening charges shall apply only to successful candidates, who have been issued admission by the universities of their choice,” Adamu stated.
Meanwhile, the Vice-Chancellor of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Prof. Ibrahim Garba, has said the Senate of universities in the country should be responsible for setting standards for admissions into their institutions.
Garba stated this while answering questions at the News Agency of Nigeria forum in Abuja.
The vice-chancellor faulted the situation where JAMB and the Ministry of Education set standards for admission into the university.
Garba stated, “Universities have autonomy by law; each university should set its criteria for taking students.
“But of course, JAMB and the ministry are saying that because it is our country, we must have a policy that regulates, so that we have a good balance but not on quality.
“A university Senate is supposed to set standard for accepting students that it takes and trains and graduates.
“We are hoping that very soon, we will resolve this matter because it is getting more and more embarrassing.
“Even the state universities have told the Federal Government that education is in the concurrent list in the constitution.
“The Federal Government has no control and should not have control over a state university; they have a council appointed by the governor.
“They can only fulfil NUC’s standard requirements, but not admission quota.’’
The ABU vice-chancellor explained that the minister’s directive, leading up to the scrapping of the post-UTME, had created an impasse in universities as they had yet to begin admissions.
According to him, universities could not take the products of JAMB without further testing them.
He said that universities, being the recipients of the candidates, should be able to select those they could train.
Garba added, “We found it, as universities, that the post-UTME tests are the best to get the best. JAMB is only trying to improve, but still not perfect to a point that we can trust.
“Post-UTME has a history; even when it started, JAMB encouraged us to do it. JAMB is improving, but it is not yet there because every year, we receive these products and we see what they are.”
He said that in 2016, ABU had 49,000 applicants, who scored above 180 points while its admission capacity was 6,500.

China agrees to partner with Nigeria on housing, power and others

China’s One Belt- One Road Initiative delegation to Nigeria has disclosed that the interest to partner with the Federal government of Nigeria on low-cost housing development, power generation and road construction, is as a result of President Mohammadu Buhari’s MOU with the government of the People’s Republic of China, detailing that the agreed joint venture is expected to strengthen both countries’ economies. According to the delegation’s Chairman, Mr. Rujun Yuan, who commended the Chairman, Blue Diamond Logistics, China, Mr. Uzoma Mbisiogu for facilitating the meetings in Abuja, Nigeria, the One belt -One Road fund management Limited will function with the Federal government of Nigeria to provide Nigerians with affordable housing and will also throw its weight on ensuring sustainable power distribution, industrialisation and banking in the country. Rujun said this during the group’s courtesy visit to the Federal Mortgage bank, where it was noted that the Nigerian government intends to build about 30 million houses in each state of the Federation, totalling 1.080.000 units of housing across the nation. He also pointed out that they are in the country, “to act on the MOU both governments agreed on. We want to move into action immediately and will focus more on housing, having noticed housing deficit of 17 million.  Nigeria will be shocked with the kind of structure the group will introduce in the country and we promise you quality, speed and low cost housing and in addition, we promise to have all building material production from Nigeria.” Also, the bank’s Acting Director General, Mr. Richard Esin, who affirmed that the Federal government has indeed plans to build low-cost housing across the nation, said that Nigeria is willing and ready to partner with the One-Belt-One Road Initiative group to fulfil the government’s mandate to the people of Nigeria. He also commended the group for the interest to partner and form a joint venture with banks in the country. The group also indicated interest in agriculture and the building of Guangzhou sister-city in Markurdi, Benue State, at a meeting with Benue State governor, Mr. Samuel Ortom, and the Minister for agriculture, Chief Audu Ogbeh, respectively.

JAMB Explains in Detail the Process of 2016 Admission

Lagos – The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) says the recent lists forwarded to various tertiary institutions was for candidates that qualified for screening based on institutions’ capacity. The board’s Registrar, Prof. Dibu Ojerinde, made the clarification on Sunday Lagos in a statement . According to the statement, if, however, the number of candidates on such lists was not sufficient for existing vacancies, the institutions could source from the omnibus printout earlier sent to them by the board. “The public and all tertiary institutions should note that admission will only be approved by the board after appropriate screening of the candidates by the institutions. “The list which is made up of candidates who met the national cut-off point within the set criteria is then forwarded to the institutions,’’ it said. The statement noted that the intention of the board was to ensure that available spaces were adequately utilised.

'Why I was invited by EFCC' - Doyin Okupe

Former spokesperson to ex President Goodluck Jonathan, Doyin Okupe who was recently invited for questioning by EFFC, took to his Facebook wall to explain his case with the antigraft agency. Below is what he wrote;
The facts of my case with efcc. In my interactions with efcc I have been asked to explain 3 things only so far. 1. Why I received N50m from the Fmr NSA, at the onset of my appointment, and what I used it for. 2. Why I was being paid N10m monthly by the ONSA. 3. Why I received another N50m from the NSA in October 2014.
These are the ONLY subject of interrogation with the commission so far. My explanations. 1. The initial N50m was approved by the President to be paid to me from His Security vote. N10m was to furnish my rented living apartment and another N10m for my office. The balance N30m was approved as take off grant. 2. The N10m I received from the ONSA monthly was to run my office, pay salaries of staffs, including overheads, pay expenses for our numerous press conferences, pay for publications in newspapers, magazines, local and foreign, television programs, bulletins, and media consultants who assist and facilitate our work. I had about 23 staff, 11 were graduates out of which 5 were masters degrees holders. Details were submitted to efcc. 3. The second N50m was approved again by Mr President when I reported to him that the monthly allowance has been cut from N10m to N5m and that I was no longer in position to keep running a 1hr NTA network program called INSIGHT which was aired 9-10am every Friday. We paid NTA about N1.2m monthly for airtime. The lead presenter on Insight earned N400,000 and the second presenter earned N200,000. Total N600,000. We paid for tapes and Editting per program. Besides we also pay honorarium for guests either directly or inform of hotel bills for those outside Abuja, or transportation. This cost averagely N500,000 weekly or about N 2m monthly. All in all we spend about N4m monthly on the program. Mr President promised to help with the expenses. About a few months later when we had incurred some debts the NSA sent me this N50m which was to cover the cost of the program for 12 months(12×N4m=N48m) News paper Trial I saw strange figures like N 162m fraud, 85m fraud etc. Also mention was made of dubious payments of N13m, N65m from contracts supposedly obtained from chachanga LGA in Niger state. The Fact. My company Romix soilfix was one of the over 20 construction companies who were duly awarded contracts for rural roads some 5yrs ago by the Niger state govt. Due to lack of funds contractors were paid irregularly making the job to drag. The job is still on going. The relationship of this to my service as snr special assistant to President is still not clear. My Health status. I confided in the officers of the commission about my health situation for them to understand why where and how I sleep was important to my overall well being. Without clearance or authorisation by me this information was revealed to the media. I woke up to hear it on radio broadcast nationwide and was published in many newspapers. This is a sad development and a definite breach of the confidence I reposed on the commission as an institution of government. I was born with sinus bradycadia, a non disease based slowness of the heart. It precluded me from vigorous exercise from childhood but I have by God's Grace been able to live a normal and active life. With age the slowness grew worse and life threatening. I sought medical help and went through a procedure at the Arrhythmia cardiac Research center in Atlanta, where this defect was corrected. Its just a year ago and I am still under satellite monitor from the USA. This is what I revealed to the efcc and they made it a public issue. I have been in public service in more than 20years, because of my pedigree, I have by deliberate policy avoided anything that will bring shame to me, my name and family. In spite of my high level involvement in politics and government, I have never done directly or indirectly any federal government contracts. In the whole of this world I have only two house. One in Lagos and another in my home town. I have no house elsewhere including Abuja. It us a pity that the situation in the country is so bad that everybody believes that there are no men with honour in politics or government. It is not true. I have submitted all my personal and company accounts to efcc. I have nothing to hide. I am proud of who I am and how far the Lord has taken me. My present travails and trial will become a good testimony for me and my family in Jesus Name.

Buhari should stop acting like grandfather of corruption – Fayose

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has urged President Mohammadu Buhari to stop acting like the grandfather of corruption in Nigeria by shielding his men from probe, just as he asked Nigerians to demand the release of the authentic report of the Committee on Audit of Defence Equipment Procurement in the Nigerian Armed Forces.
He described claim by the federal government that the probe panel only looked into procurement and contracts awarded by the military between 2011-2015 because documents regarding procurement from 2007 to 2010 were not available as a clear indication of his support for corruption.

In a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Governor Fayose said “it is now obvious to the entire world that anyone that is in President Buhari’s good books can never be adjudged as corrupt even if such a person is caught looting the entire money in Nigeria’s treasury.”

The governor said it smacked of sheer hypocrisy and nepotism for anyone to accept that fraud could have been perpetrated on procurement and award of contracts in an establishment without the involvement of the director of procurement.

"There are many petitions relating to the defence from 2007 that are been discarded, the question is why? There are several petitions against APC leaders that are not being looked into, the question is why?

"Fghting corruption and targeting only opponents of the president is in itself corruption," he said.

He said; “Buhari’s’ Minister of Interior, Major General Abdulrahman Dambazau (rtd) was Chief of Army Staff between 2008 and 2010 and the current Chief Of Army Staff, Major General Tukur Buratai served as Director of Procurements, Defence Headquarters, from 2012 till May 2015.

“It is a fact that the committee in its terms of reference said it queried all procurement from 2007 to 2015. Even the Press Release issued was titled; ‘Third Interim Report of the Presidential Committee on Audit of Defence Equipment Procurement from 2007 to 2015.’

“First paragraph of the committee report also indicated that it used 2007-2015 as reference, stating that the committee ‘analysed procurement contracts awarded by or for the Nigerian Army between 2007 and 2015.’

“Questions Nigerians must now begin to ask President Buhari and his government are; where is the report of Presidential Committee on Audit of Defence Equipment Procurement relating to 2007 to 2010? Who doctored the committee report and why?

“Lai Mohammed said the Committee would commence the audit of procurement from 2007 to 2010 ‘as soon as the necessary documents are available’, it is necessary that Nigerians are told who the custodians of the documents are. Why were documents on procurement from 2011 and 2015 available and those of 2007 to 2010 not available?

"Early this year, we were told that an ally of President Buhari and chieftain of the APC, Brig. General Jafaru Isa (rtd) refunded N100 million of the N170 million he allegedly received from ex-NSA, Sambo Dasuki.

"Jafaru Isa who was a member of the 19-man Buhari Transition Committee was released after he was allegedly assisted by the Presidency to refund N100 million to the anti-graft commission and since then, nothing has been heard about the case. He was not charged to court like others.

"It took the Ministry of Defence and the Code of Conduct Bureau only one week to clear Buratai but others from the opposition party would be languishing in prison while EFCC go about fishing for evidence against them.

“Like I and other well-meaning Nigerians have maintained, fighting corruption is a good idea but the moment documents of probe panels and being doctored to shield those seen as the President’s men, the entire purpose of the corruption fight has been defeated.

“The international community must therefore prevail on President Buhari to stop acting like the grandfather of corruption in Nigeria by making the anti-corruption war all-inclusive instead of this clear persecution of his perceived political enemies, and the first step to demonstrate that will be the immediate release of report of the Presidential Committee on Audit of Defence Equipment Procurement covering 2007 to 2015.”
